FAQ

Q: How can I get a daily or monthly pass?

A: Daily and Monthly passes can be obtained onboard the Trolley from the driver, but please have exact change as the driver does not carry any money and cannot make change.

Q: How many bags am I allowed to carry onto a Trolley?

A: Two.

Q: Can I take my bicycle on the trolley?

A: Yes. All of our large trolleys have bicycle racks mounted to the front of the Trolley. The small Trolleys are authorized to transport bicycles inside the bus as long as they are secured either by the passenger or in the wheelchair securement area if space permits. Additionally, the driver has the authority to limit the number of bicycles on the trolley if they create an unsafe condition for our passengers. Your cooperation and understanding are appreciated.

Q: Are food and drink allowed on the Trolley?

A: No. This policy has been in effect since the Trolleys inception and is enforced by our drivers. We appreciated your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Q: I have a suggestion on how you can improve service. How do I let you know my idea?

A: The best way to let us know your idea is to complete a Bay Transportation Customer Comment Form and give it to your driver or mail it to:

Bay County Council on Aging
ATTN: General Manager, Bay Transportation
1116 Frankford Ave
Panama City, Fl. 32401

The customer comment form is available on all of our Trolley's and is also used for suggestions, comments, praises, and complaints. Every Customer comment form is logged and reviewed by our general manager and appropriate action taken. Generally, our general manager will contact you to let you know the outcome of your report within five working days.

You can also call us at 850-769-0557.

Q: Are there any restrictions concerning my personal mobility device (PMD):

A: Yes. PMD's must comply with the following requirements to be safely transported on the Bay Town Trolleys.

  1. Electric wheelchairs or scooters that cannot be properly tied down will not be transported.
  2. Wheelchairs without foot-rests will not be transported.
  3. Wheelchairs that exceed 30 inches across and 48 inches front to back as measured 2 inches above the ground can not be transported.
  4. Bay Transportation is unable to transport passengers whose combined weight of the passenger and wheelchair exceeds 600 pounds; the capacity of the lift.

Q: I have a medical need that requires a personal care attendant. Do I have to pay fare for my attendant?

A: No. Personal attendants who are accompanying individuals with certified medical conditions are not required to pay fare.

Q. How can I be sure I catch the Trolley?

A: Our offices receive frequent calls stating that the trolleys passed them without stopping or never came by at all. After an exhaustive investigation the following tips are offered.

  1. Check the schedule. Most often passengers misread the schedule information in the ride guides.
  2. Be at the stop at least five minutes before the scheduled stop. All Bay Town Trolleys are equipped with synchronized satellite controlled clocks. Your watch may not be synchronized to our trolleys clocks.
  3. When you see the trolley approaching, raise your hand to let your driver know you want a ride. Often, pedestrian traffic in an area causes the drivers to be unaware of passengers needing a ride. Signal your driver to assure they know you want a ride.
  4. Be Patient. Occasionally, Trolley's may run late due to unusually heavy traffic, accidents, or road construction. Rest assured that our professional and exceptionally well-trained drivers are doing all that can be done to safely and efficiently get you to your destination. On rare occasions, our dispatch office will direct a Trolley to proceed directly to the next transfer point to get back on schedule. Though rare, this is required from time to time. We ask for your understanding when this occurs.

Q: What happens if I have a transportation emergency?

A: If you're registered with Ride On's Commuter Services and you ride the trolley on a regular basis, you may be eligible for a free emergency ride home. Click here to find out more information about Ride On's Commuter Services.
