(Panama City, Fla.) - Bay Town Trolley begins their annual Harvest Trolley food drive today. This countywide drive will run from November 1 - 15, 2006. Once again, Bay Town Trolley has teamed up with The Salvation Army and all food donations will benefit the disadvantaged and needy in the Bay County area.

Residents are urged to donate non-perishable food items and canned goods at one of nearly 20 local businesses, organizations and schools participating as drop off locations. A complete listing of locations are attached.

In addition to these drop-off locations, this year Bay Town Trolley will be taking donations aboard each individual trolley. Riders are encouraged to participate in a "Food for Fare" promotion where a donation of two canned goods will equate to one free ride.

"We look forward to Harvest Trolley each holiday season, as it allows us the opportunity to give back to our community," said Doug Boice, General Manager, Bay Town Trolley. "Whether as a drop-off location or donator, it is truly rewarding to see Bay County respond so graciously to the needs of the disadvantaged in the area."

Over the years, Bay Town Trolley has worked with over 100 local businesses and schools to donate over 20,000 pounds of food. These donations are able to benefit the 12.8 percent of poverty stricken residents throughout Bay County.

"We are so thankful to be the beneficiary of this Harvest Trolley food drive," said Captain Dawn Worthy, Commanding Officer for Salvation Army. "With over 20,000 disadvantaged residents in our area, a donation of one or two canned goods can make all the difference for many families with nothing."
