(Panama City, Fla.) - Bay Town Trolley representatives announced today the system has reached yet another ridership milestone: surpassing a quarter of a million riders. In October 28,549 passengers boarded, bringing 2006 ridership to 259,914 - a 29 percent increase from the total number of riders at this time last year.
With Bay Town Trolley achieving this ridership goal two months before year's end, the system is well positioned to reach nearly 300,000 total riders by December 2006.
"The system has truly become an integral part of our community," says Beth Coulliette, Executive Director of Bay Town Trolley. "We are pleased to provide an affordable and reliable service to such a significant number throughout Bay County."
This record-breaking ridership has occurred amidst the system's annual community wide food drive - Harvest Trolley. A resident wishing to donate can bring non-perishable food items and canned goods to any of the 20 listed drop-off locations or place it on a trolley at one of the 200 stops around town.
It's not too late for Bay County residents to donate. A complete listing of drop-off locations can be found at www.baytowntrolley.org or by calling (800) 323-4869 x36.
Teaming up with The Salvation Army, all food donations will benefit the disadvantaged and needy in the Bay County area. Harvest Trolley will continue through November 15, 2005.
