(Panama City, Fla.) - Bay Town Trolley representatives announced today their participation in the Second Annual Dump the Pump initiative on June 21, 2007. On this day, the system will be offering free rides to all trolley passengers.
Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), this national effort encourages people to ride public transportation to help improve the environment and conserve gasoline.
"We encourage all Bay County residents and visitors to hop aboard on June 21 and experience the trolley," said Beth Coulliette, Executive Director for Bay Town Trolley. "You'll not only get a free ride, but will help make an impact on the environment. It only takes one person to make a difference."
Public transportation provides a direct beneficial impact on the environment. On average, one person taking public transit to work instead of driving eliminates over 3,000 pounds of exhaust and pollutants every year.
