How to Ride

Whether you’re heading to the beach, local shops, work, or school, Bay Town Trolley is happy to move you to your destination. Hopping on board is easy!

1. Getting Started

The first step to ride is deciding where you want to go and when you want to get there. Start with the system-wide map and identify the routes you’ll need to reach your destination. If you need assistance in planning your trip, call Bay Town Trolley at 850-769-0557.

2. Go to Your Bus Stop

Determine the time that the bus/trolley will arrive at your bus stop. Be at the bus stop at least five minutes before bus/trolley arrival time.

3. Identify Your Bus/Trolley

Look for the bus/trolley you want to catch. Some buses/trolleys are equipped with destination signs. The destination signs are located above the vehicle windshield. Other buses/trolleys do not have destination signs and route identification is located on the vehicle front usually on the windshield.

4. Fare

When you board the bus/trolley, please have your cash or pass, and if necessary, your identification ready. For more information about Bay Town Trolley passes, see below.

5. Boarding

Stand on the sidewalk away from the curb. Wait for the bus/trolley to come to a complete stop. Allow passengers to exit before boarding. Be prepared for delays due to traffic, road construction, or bad weather. Some buses/trolleys are equipped to lower and/or kneel. This feature can be used by individuals who have difficulty stepping from the curb to the bus step. When you need the bus lowered, please inform the bus/trolley operator.

6. Your Destination

When you see the bus/trolley approaching your bus stop, press the strip along the wall or pull the yellow stop cord to signal the bus/trolley operator that you wish to stop at the next bus stop. Be sure to have all of your belongings with you, and then exit the bus/trolley through the closest door.

7. Fixed Route Deviations

When time allows, the bus can deviate from its fixed route and stop at another location within three-quarters of a mile from the established route. Route deviation requests must be made at least one business day in advance by calling (850) 769-0557. Deviated Fixed Route Service is available to all passengers.
